The Dirtchamber Session

The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One is a mix album by Liam Howlett released on February 22nd, 1999. In 1998, Liam made a guest appearance on the BBC Radio 1’s mix show The Breezeblock hosted by Mary Anne Hobbs and played a similar mix. Later, Howlett decided to release this mix officially and went on to produce an extended version of it. Nevertheless, some tracks which had been used in the initial mix for the radio show were not featured in the final mixtape since Liam couldn’t get clearance for several tracks including Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles.

During the production of the mix Liam was inspired by Double Dee & Steinski, Coldcut, Big Apple Productions, Flash on the Wheels of Steel, DJ Cheese, Cash Money, Cutmaster Swift, Mixmaster Mike, and Scratch Piklz.
