The Day Is My Enemy

Some rumors about the production of a new album started to emerge back in 2011-2012. It was also announced that the working title of the album would be ‘How to Steal a Jetfighter’. According to Liam, the forthcoming album was going to be much darker and heavier than the band’s previous record. Liam also posted new track ideas on Instagram regularly. However, the plans were not destined to come true: the album was only released on March 30th, 2015, under a different name, The Day is My Enemy, and did not include almost all of the tracks that had been posted on Instagram and played at gigs for several years. In general, Liam continued the concept developed on the previous release.

Production-wise, not much changed since ‘Invaders Must Die’, and Liam completely moved to Ableton Live. It’s worth noting that Howlett reincarnated some ideas from the past, mostly leftovers from the previous album ‘Invaders Must Die’. For instance, tracks such as ‘The Day Is My Enemy’, ‘Destroy’, and ‘AWOL’. ‘Rebel Radio’ also incorporates several elements from an unreleased track from 2005-2006, ‘Heatwave’. The beat from ‘Take Me To The Hospital’ was used for the new track ‘Get Your Fight On’. Among other things, Liam began to abuse the loop of Mental Cube – Chile Of The Bass Generation (Chile Of The Bass Generation, 1990) for his new album’s production, which was discovered a few years earlier and has been used several times in live tracks as well as in remixes for third party artists.
